Obama! If You Overreach We Must Impeach!

As sure as Autumn has turned to Winter, the gentle thoughts of Progressives turn to trashing the Constitution, a document that they find places restraint on their plans to remake America into the very type of tyrannical monster the founders fought to gain their freedom.

There were many protections place in the Constitution to prevent the inevitable creep of totalitarianism back into those who would lead us.

In fact, the founders did not set up a government of leaders for Americans to follow, they set up a government of servants who were supposed to serve us! They placed a great deal of forethought and wisdom into the Constitution and knew that power corrupts, so certain safeguards – or firewalls – were put in place to keep the expected tendency of government to smother and control in check.

America was to be something different. A Nation unlike any the world had ever seen or even conceived of. People dreamed, of course, of a free country where they could be truly a free people, but the reality is, wherever that line of thought actually produced results, and the people overthrew an oppressive government, the freedom was short lived.

Freedom is like a magnet to corruption and oppression, which necessarily go hand in hand.

The US Constitution was supposed to keep that from happening in America. The people will always rule and the government must follow or the Constitution has been violated. And violations have strict and necessary remedies that are required in order to preserve the freedom that the Constitution guaranteed.

As the Constitution goes, so goes our Liberty.

And we are seeing an unconstitutional attack on these liberties by the Democrats and Barack Obama. While the attacks rage on many fronts, two of the most egregious plans in the works involve the debt ceiling and guns.

Obama plans to, or is seriously “floating” plans to “bypass” Congress and use Executive  fiat to usurp both the Constructional requirement that all bills to raise revenue originate in the House (the Origination Clause) and the Second Amendment. Obama’s position is that we have already “spent” the money, he is only wishing to pay the bills. He “worries” we may become a deadbeat nation. And we cannot be a “deadbeat” nation. That is absurd. Deadbeat implies that you have the money, and you choose not to pay your obligations. In case Obama has not looked, we are broke! And unemployed Dad who has no income is not a deadbeat, he can’t pay what he does not have. And most courts will adjust the support requirement. Obama simply wants to spend and spend. And since Harry Reid has not passed a budget, the House is right to withhold permission to acquire further debt as a nation.

The Administration has used the term “bypass” which the very word is proof that any such Executive Orders are unconstitutional. And Obama’s assertion that he must act if Congress won’t is an absolute violation of both the Constitution itself and his Oath which he is about to take for the second time. Perhaps he didn’t hear it the first time.

Obama needs to listen to the words of the Oath of Office as he speak them:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.

The Constitution says that the House must originate spending bills because the members of the House are closest to the people, and the more numerous providing them with the best ability to listen to the people out of the three branches of Government set up by the Constitution. (The Senate would be second closest and the President – the most distant from the people whom he serves!)

The President is not King! He must follow the Constitution or Congress must follow the prescribed remedy – impeachment.

Trench Coxe, Pennsylvania Delegate to the Continental Congress (1788-1789) said concerning the Second Amendment:

As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow-citizens, the people are confirmed by the next article in their right to keep and bear their private arms.”

And

Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American… [T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people.”

We hear a lot of talk from those on the left that claim that only a Militia has the right to keep and bear arms, but Militia’s are (were) raised from every day ordinary citizens who brought with them their personal weapons to form the militia if and when it was needed.

And Coxe and the rest who took part in the discussions and worked to create and ratify the Constitution have said, the personal and individual rights to keep weapons was primarily to ensure the nation would remain free, even from the rulers themselves if need be.

Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American.

Do we limit clips we provide our military? Do we ban “assault” rifles?

Of course we do not. And since every person is a potential militia member if necessary, it goes against the intent of the Constitution and the founders for the government to limit the type and scope of weapons.

High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

What exactly are “high crimes”? Are they more serious crimes? Felonies and the like?

NO. In English Law, High Crimes were actions by high ranking officials that would not be crimes if committed by ordinary citizens. “Bypassing” Congress and the Constitution for gun control or raising the debt ceiling would meet the requirement for a High Crime. Intentionally acting without Constitutional Authority would be the highest of High Crimes.

And if those in Congress allow this to happen and fail to use the Constructional remedy of impeachment to put a stop to this power grab, they are also committing a High Crime. It is also their charge to ensure the Constitution is upheld by all in high position.

If left unchallenged, the Constitution falls.

America falls.

And we all fall.
